our programs

mobile, pop-up
stop motion studios

Community Art Makers (or CAM)  brings the art making and stop motion

animation filmmaking directly to our partners in the form of interactive,

collaborative, hands-on, art-infused workshops. We supply all of

the art making materials and design curriculum specifically

for each new partnership.

Over the course of several sessions, young filmmakers and family

groups collaborate to create stop motion animation films inspired

by a theme. These animated short films are edited together to create

one, collaborative work that represents the entire group.

Community Art Makers' mobile filmmaking workshops teach participants using

professional grade equipment and software; helping to create access and

pathways to future filmmaking and production careers.

Our stop motion animation programs use "DragonFrame Stop Motion":

the leading stop motion software in the industry today. DSLR cameras

and mac laptops are assembled in "Animation Stations" that are used

collaboratively in small groups or individually.

Our art materials are assembled into carefully constructed kits for each

participant group. In each animation workshop, we explore a wide range of

art making techniques and materials from drawing, painting and sculpting to

design. Not only do our filmmakers finish their workshops with animated short

films to share, they will also leave with lasting works of fine art!

upcoming programs

We are currently fundraising to continue

our programming with caregivers and children at Sanctuary for Families.

These workshops don't just explore art making and stop motion animation filmmaking, they also provide opportunities for creative play,

social-emotional learning, and increased confidence in the use of professional grade technologies.

Have a good idea?

Do you know a group of people who would benefit from these workshops?

Do you have a creative project that you would like to try with your community?

Are you interested in getting involved in our classrooms?

Please reach out with any questions or inspirations. We are always hoping to collaborate with more folks in the NY Metro area.
